Biotec Services International expands storage capacity at Bridgend site
Bridgend pharmaceuticals company Biotec Services International has expanded its ultra-low temperature storage capacity due to increased international demand.
The company, which employs 35 high-skilled workers, said that demand for long-term storage of biopharmaceuticals meant that expansion, which will see ultra-low temperature storage capacity increase by 300%, was necessary to meet the needs of clients who require supplies to be contained at low temperatures before being dispatched internationally.
Significant investment in the expansion comes as the company looks to broaden its offerings to attract blue-chip international pharmaceutical and healthcare clients.
The increased storage abilities will now allow Biotec to store material that has not yet been designated for use in trials, testing or for commercial use, but requires long-term storage.
Biotec – which was founded in 1997 – will be able to collect materials directly from manufacturers and continue to provide a service by storing material and later dispatching to testing sites.
Rachel Griffiths, operations director for Biotec, said: “This is an important move for the company, as it allows us to meet the growing demands of manufacturers all over the world.
“By increasing our storage and distribution services on such a large scale, we are providing clients with greater flexibility and are offering them a complete and efficient service.
“Clients can relax safe in the knowledge that their drugs are being handled by cold chain experts from manufacture to patient delivery.”
